Pollen, phytolith, macrofloral, and/or protein residue analyses were conducted on two
grinding surfaces and sediment from a hopper mortar at the Mortar Riddle Site, 35HA2627, in
southeast Oregon. Pollen, phytolith, macrofloral, and protein residue analysis analyses are used
to provide information concerning types of resources that were processed using this mortar. It was
suspected that this piece of ground stone was used for processing animal products as well as plant
products.
