Men at the entrance to the Church of the Nativity, c.1900-1920

This is a digital reproduction of an image held at the Library of Congress. This photograph shows a group of men standing at the entrance to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem dressed in traditional attire. All the men in the image wear the tarbush, a close-fitting, flat-topped, brimless hat shaped like a truncated cone made of felt and a silk tassel that was popular during the Ottoman period.
