Taxonomic review of the Legionellacea family. Legionella species review

The first species of the genus to be formally proposed was Legionella pneumophila in 1979. Since then, approximately 65 Legionella species, and three subspecies, have been validly published to date according to the rules of the ICNP.However, there are several issues affecting current taxonomic clarity within the Legionellaceae family, and more specifically the genus Legionella which are discussed. This project describes all validly and non-validly published species of Legionella under the rules of the ICNP and clarify existing nomenclature discrepancies.
