Uncoupled CLM or CLM-CAM RCP8.5 transient simulations for North America to study cover crops in winter

The data provided here were used for analysis in the JGR-Biogeosciences publication “Changes in wood biomass and crop yields in response to projected CO2, O3, nitrogen deposition, and climate” by Danica Lombardozzi et al. All data are from uncoupled CLM simulations that used an anomaly forcing technique to apply RCP8.5 future forcings. Six simulations were run with either individual or a combination of future forcings. All simulations are identified by the file name “clm4_5_12_r191_CRUCLM45BGCCrop2deg_” and are labeled with one of the following tags to identify the scenario:

1) “TransientNone”: Baseline simulation where all transient forcings were held constant
2) “TransientClimate”: Simulation with transient climate forcings, with all other forcings held constant
3) “TransientCO2”: Simulation with transient CO2 concentrations, with all other forcings held constant
4) “TransientNdep”: Simulation with transient nitrogen deposition, with all other forcings held constant
5) “TransientO3”: Simulation with transient O3 concentrations, with all other forcings held constant
6) “TransientControl”: Simulation with all transient forcings, including climate, CO2, nitrogen deposition, and O3.

Two types of files are available for each of the six simulations:
• The files tagged with “ANN_ALL.nc” provide data as grid cell mean annually averaged values, with data from 2006 through 2099.
• The files tagged with “h1.nc” provide monthly-averaged sub-grid data. Sub-grid data are available as a 1-dimensional vector and requires regridding. The data are available for three time periods: 2007 through 2026, 2040 through 2059, or 2080 through 2099.

The time period for which the data are available is provided within the file name.
