Global mode-1 N2 internal tides observed using 27 years of satellite altimetry data from 1993 to 2019. The model is developed by a three-step mapping procedure that contains two rounds of plane wave analysis and a spatial bandpass filter in between. Thanks to the long data set and new mapping procedure, we are able to observe weak N2 internal tides, which have SSH amplitudes of several mm.
