Dataset: Mobile Money-Based FinTech Development, Institutional Quality, and Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (2014–2024)

This dataset supports the empirical investigation of the relationship between mobile money-based financial technology (FinTech) development, institutional quality, and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan African countries over the period 2014–2024. The dataset comprises annual country-level observations for 31 Sub-Saharan African countries, covering 341 country-year observations. It includes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index and selected SDG indicators, the Mobile Money-based FinTech Development Index (MMFD), the Financial Development Index (FD), the Institutional Quality Index (IQI), an interaction term capturing the relationship between FinTech development and institutional quality, and relevant macroeconomic control variables. The dataset is deposited to support research transparency, verification, and reproducibility of the empirical findings reported in the associated research article. The accompanying Excel file provides the country identifiers, annual observations, and research variables used in the empirical analysis.
