Seasonal coat colour moulting phenology of Snowshoe Hares in a Yukon boreal forest undergoing climate change

The data is related to the seasonal coat colour moulting phenology of snowshoe hares in Kluane, Canada. We used camera trap data between 2016-2022 to understand whether the seasonal coat colour moulting phenology is changing or not? Additionally, we also assessed if the coat-colour mismatch with the background is increasing with change in the environment. We found decreased coat whiteness and increased coat-colour mismatch with the background. However there was no strong evidence that the timelines of coat colour molting is shifting either in spring or autumn. Furthermore, no single covariate overwhelmingly influenced the moulting and mismatch phenology indicating complex interplay of different covariates.
