This dataset corresponds to the article 'Clay content, not microbial community composition, regulates carbon stabilisation along a soil carbon and texture gradient impacted by reduced precipitation' authored by Sigrid Trier Kjær, Kirill Bogdanov, Sergio E. Morales and Peter Dörsch. It includes data from a six months incubation experiment with soils amended with 13C-enriched litter. The soils were sampled along a hillslope with a natural gradient in soil organic carbon, texture and pH. 120 days prior to soil sampling, rainout shelters were installed in situ to evaluate the legacy effect of short term percipitation reduction on C stabilisation. This dataset includes logger data with volumetric water content and bulk densities for calculating water-filled pore space, as well as other measured edaphic factors. Temperatures are given in celsius.
