Direct access to millions of mutations by Whole Genome Sequencing of an oilseed rape mutant population

This study presents a novel mutant database representing a whole genome sequenced EMS mutagenized oilseed rape population. The platform will act as an important resource in aiding reverse genetics based studies in oilseed rape in a cost and time effective manner. Using a whole genome NGS approach to detect and screen EMS induced mutations, the resource enables the selection of EMS induced mutants from an already existing oilseed rape TILLING population (established previously) that possess functional mutations within any candidate gene/genomic region of interest.
