MetaCyc is the largest curated collection of metabolic pathways currently available. It provides a comprehensive resource for metabolic pathways and enzymes from all domains of life. The pathways in MetaCyc are experimentally determined, small-molecule metabolic pathways, and are curated from the primary scientific literature. Most reactions in MetaCyc pathways are linked to one or more well-characterized enzymes, and both pathways and enzymes are annotated with reviews, evidence codes, and literature citations. As of 2025 MetaCyc describes 3,260 pathways and 20,040 reactions curated from 80,000 publications. MetaCyc is a general reference on metabolic pathways, and is used for metabolic reconstruction from sequenced genomes, and for gap-filling metabolic models.
MetaCyc是当前可用的规模最大的经人工整理(curated)的代谢通路数据库。其为涵盖所有生命域的代谢通路与酶类提供了全面的资源库。MetaCyc收录的通路均为经实验验证确定的小分子代谢通路,且均从原始科学文献中人工整理得到。MetaCyc通路中的绝大多数反应均关联至一种或多种已充分表征的酶;通路与酶类均附带综述文献、证据代码及文献引用信息。截至2025年,MetaCyc已从8万篇学术出版物中整理得到3260条代谢通路与20040个反应。作为代谢通路领域的通用参考数据库,MetaCyc可用于基于测序基因组的代谢重建工作,以及代谢模型的缺口填补。
