Solar irradiance measurements from a network of pyranometers on the rooftop of ETSIDI-UPM (Madrid, Spain)

This dataset contains ground-based measurements of solar irradiance collected with a network of pyranometers located on the rooftop of the ETSIDI (UPM),  located at 40°24'19.4"N 3°42'10.1"W in Madrid, Spain. Measurements include Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) recorded with a set of pyranometers of Kipp & Zonnen, models SMP-21A  and SMP-3A. Wind speed and ambient temperature are also included.

The data are provided as daily CSV files, which are grouped into monthly ZIP archives. Each record corresponds to a temporal resolution of 5 seconds. Time stamps are expressed in local time (time zone: Europe/Madrid). Irradiance values are expressed in W m⁻², wind speed in m/s and ambient temperature in degrees celsius. Data gaps may occur due to maintenance operations, sensor recalibration, or temporary acquisition failures.

Pyranometers locations are defined in the "pyranometer_locations.csv" file (reference system: ETRS 89 UTM 30 N). The sky view of each pyranometer is depicted in the "SkyView.pdf" file.

Pyranometers P1 to P9 are SMP-21A models installed on a horizontal plane. Pinc is an SMP-21A model installed on a plane tilted at 30º. P0 is an SMP-3A model installed on a horizontal plane. Finally, PH is a pyrheliometer with malfunction issues since July 2025 until the date of this version.

The version 1.0 of the dataset covers the period April 2025 to March 2026. Each new version adds a monthly archive.
