Samples from three features at Site 5LA6197 in southeast Colorado were
examined for macrofloral remains. This site consists of an east-facing rock
shelter immediately adjacent to Trinchera Creek. The shelter contains two
distinct occupational episodes. Radiocarbon dates and diagnostic artifacts
indicate Middle Archaic and Early Ceramic occupations, and the three features
yielded uncalibrated radiocarbon dates of 1690 + 80 BP, 2630 + 70 BP, and 4900
+ 90 BP. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide subsistence information.
