Epiphytic Microbial Communities of Ten Macroalgae from Wenchang, Hainan

This dataset contains the epiphytic microbial communities associated with ten species of macroalgae collected from Wenchang, Hainan, China. These macroalgae represent a diverse group across multiple phyla, including Rhodophyta (red algae), Phaeophyceae (brown algae), and Chlorophyta (green algae). The study focuses on analyzing the microbial community structure and diversity associated with the surface of these macroalgae to understand the ecological roles of host-microbiome interactions in marine environments.The samples were collected in the Dongjiao region of Wenchang, a coastal area characterized by tropical marine biodiversity. Surface microbiomes were extracted from fresh seaweed specimens and subjected to high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA genes, providing detailed insights into the taxonomic composition and relative abundances of bacterial communities. These data were used to compare microbial community diversity across macroalgal species and investigate how host identity influences microbial composition.This dataset contributes to understanding the microbial ecology of macroalgae in tropical marine environments and provides a valuable resource for future studies on host-microbiome interactions, microbial diversity, and functional roles in coastal ecosystems.
