CWC: Bacterial diversity data supporting experimental marsh sediment microbial community degradation of S. alterniflora-derived dissolved organic matter

Microbial degradation of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in estuarine systems is important to geochemical processes and microbial community function. This dataset includes the results of a laboratory experiment in which batch microcosms of marsh sediments and seawater were enriched with DOM leachate made with marsh grass, Spartina alterniflora. DOM biodegradation was evaluated over a one-month period using fluorescence spectroscopy (R1.x139.143:0022). These data include the results of DNA extracted from batch experiment sediments after one month, followed by tag 454 pyrosequencing of the V1-V3 region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene.
