Tunable photonic filters are extensively utilized in the domains of optical routing and optical communications. The bandwidth-tunable photonic filtering technology realizes a filter with adjustable filtering bandwidth by thermally tuning cascaded high-Q microrings and low-Q microrings. The dataset mainly records spectrograms and optical power data. This work achieves a wavelength- and bandwidth-tunable filter via thermally tuning cascaded high-Q and low-Q microrings, and demonstrates its application in optical buffering. Data acquisition was conducted using a swept-spectrum laser, photodetector, optical power meter and spectrometer. The collected data were plotted with MATLAB and Origin software to obtain the relevant experimental result figures presented in this paper. The total size of the dataset is 31.4 Mb.
