XRD analsyis of surface sediment samples collected from the reef-flat physiographic zone of Wistari Reef

Wistari Reef is a lagoonal platform reef, situated on the Tropic of Capricorn, within the Capricorn and Bunker region of the southern Great Barrier Reef. Two sediment surface samples were taken from the lagoon area for X-Ray Diffraction Analysis. This was used to compare the relative percentages of aragonite and calcite in the sample. The results indicate a higher proportion of aragonite (57-67%) than calcite.

威斯塔里礁（Wistari Reef）为泻湖型台礁，坐落于南回归线上，地处南大堡礁的摩羯-邦克（Capricorn and Bunker）区域。研究人员从该礁的泻湖区域采集了两份沉积物表层样品，用于开展X射线衍射分析（X-Ray Diffraction Analysis），以比对样品中文石与方解石的相对占比。结果显示，样品中文石占比（57%~67%）高于方解石。
