Meadow bird protection program Scene (Lower Saxony Way)

The areas shown above represent the focal points of the target species of the meadow bird protection programme (Uferschnepfe, Kiebitz, fallow bird, red leg, bekassine, oyster fisherman, brown throat and quail king) on agricultural land. Against the background of the umbrella species function of the selected species, they form the priority backdrop for the implementation of the meadow bird protection program in the context of the Lower Saxony Way. On the one hand, the EU bird protection areas (EU-VSG) which are important for the selected meadow bird species and on the other hand areas outside the EU VSG with still significant breeding deposits are shown. This is not a complete distribution map, as not all occurrences of all target species are covered. Breeding deposits on areas outside agricultural use (moors, heaths, salt marshes, troop training grounds) are not shown here. The identification of land use was based on the data from ATKIS-DLM (2017) and on the basis of the agricultural field blocks (SLA, 2021).The representation is differentiated according to the population by the target species (breeding deposits Limikolen – breeding deposits Braunkehlchen – occurrences of lime and brown carols). The country’s most important breeding deposits of the quail king target species are thus covered and are not presented separately.
