资源简介:
The Pacific Arctic region, including the northern Bering and Chukchi seas, is undergoing unprecedented and accelerated ecological change, including reduced sea-ice extent and thickness and prolonged periods of open water. In order to address the fundamental knowledge gaps related to these physical changes and their biogeochemical response, direct observations of ecosystem-sensitive tracers at both high spatial and temporal resolution are sorely needed to better understand mechanisms driving variability in this important region. To enhance our understanding of the processes influencing organic matter cycling along Arctic Alaskan waters, a high-resolution study of the northern Bering, Chukchi and western Beaufort Seas was carried out aboard the R/V Norseman II in summer 2022. As part of this effort, we used the CTD-rosette system to sample subsurface waters in close coordination with Robert Pickart's research group, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), who led the CTD hydrographic survey efforts on these cruises. The hydrographic data for all the CTD stations where collected samples are available through the Arctic Data Center (McRaven and Pickart, 2004; doi:10.18739/A2B853K56d).
Leah McRaven, and Robert Pickart. (2024). Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) data from the Norseman II (NRS22-1s and NRS22-2s), as part of the 2022 Origin and Fate of Harmful Algal Blooms in the Warming Chukchi Sea cruise. Arctic Data Center. doi:10.18739/A2B853K56.
In these data sets, we present particulate organic carbon (POC) and particulate nitrogen (PN) concentrations, pigment (chlorophyll and phaeophytin) concentrations and dissolved nutrient (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate and ammonium) for individual water samples collected using Niskin bottles from the CTD rosette at different stations and depths within the study area, which included northern Bering Sea, Chukchi Sea and western Beaufort Sea. In addition, salinity, temperature, density, dissolved oxygen concentration, chlorophyll fluorescence, and light transmission measurements from CTD-mounted sensors for each water sample collected with the Niskin bottles are also provided.
