A variety of compounds is known to induce ovarian toxicity. To evaluate ovarian toxicity, it is very important to understand the physiological change related to the estrous cycle in the ovary for some of the target molecules of these compounds are expressed only in a short time in the cycle. This study was designed to determine transitional gene expression profile in ovarian follicle in non-treated, 9-week old female rats during ovulatory process. Ovaries were removed at 10:00 a.m. on the proestrus day (GF: graafian follicle) 10:00 p.m. on the proestrus day (PeF: Peri-ovulatory follicle), and 10:00 a.m. on the estrus day (PoF: Post-ovulatory follicle). Ovulatory follicles were cut by laser and picked up by laser microdissection system. Total RNA was extracted from collected follicle sections were analyzed by microarray technology, and subjected to clustering analysis.
