The Serumpun Codex: forty Sarawak ingredients

The Serumpun Codex is Serumpun Sarawak's record of forty ingredients from the larder of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, edited by James Won. Each entry gives the same fields in the same order: the ingredient's names, its scientific name, what it is, whose knowledge it carries, how it is used, season and place, conservation status, any Geographical Indication or Codex Alimentarius standard, the consent recorded for it, and its sources. Every entry lists its published sources. Fields not yet confirmed are left empty. The communities whose knowledge the Codex records gave their consent through CHASS (recorded 30 October 2026). Anyone may cook with this knowledge, commercially too, provided the community it comes from is credited by name. Medicinal knowledge is held privately by the communities and is not included. A community may correct or withdraw its entry at any time; corrections and withdrawals appear in the live edition and in later versions of this record.
