Local Government Organization at County Level 2004

This data set is obtained from the survey "Local Government Organization at County Level" which was performed by the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional research (NIBR) on behalf of the Minsitry of Local Government and Regional Development (KRD). The aim of this study was to collect data to KRDs organization database. This database provides data on various aspects of municipal organization in most municipalities and counties in Norway. The purpose of the database is to provide a tool that makes it possible for municipalities, counties, state governments, researchers and others interested in municipal organization, to obtain an overview of important organizational feature of the municipalities and county municipalities, either together or separately. The database is currently based on surveys made in 1995, 1996, 2000 and 2004.
It is envisaged that the database will be updated every four years, after each municipal and county elections.

This file contains data for Norwegian counties collected in 2004. The data set is divided into four main sections:

1. Political Organization
2. Administrative organization
3. Information and communication
4. Competition exposure / use of market mechanisms
