PERIOD: Japan proper, Korea and Taiwan, 1929-1938. South Sakhalin, Kwantung Province and South Pacific Mandate, 1934-1938. By prefecture of Japan proper for 1938. NOTE: (Factories are based on their principal business, and production values are classified by kind.) This table is for the survey of factories that have facility to employ 5 laborers and more, or that employ 5 laborers and more at any time, excluding gas, electricity, and government factories. The principal business described in this table refers to the factories in which the industrial owner is declared according to the factory classification table. If the factory operates several different types of business depending on the classification table, the principal business also refers to the declaration that one type of business can be recognized as the principal business, considering the value of production and the type of facility.
