资源简介:
'Framework' is a creative work developed for the group exhibition, Sensorial Loop; 1st Tamworth Textile Triennial. While this is the first triennial, the Tamworth Regional Gallery is internationally and nationally recognised for exposing audiences to textile practices in Australia. The aim of the show in its new iteration was to recognise contemporary shifts in creative textile practice and survey current practitioners nationally. The inner frameworks of natural forms illustrated in the work of post Darwinist theorists became the initial inspiration for 'Framework'. The work aims to question the process of making, the interaction of hand and the domestic knitting machine. Along with the notion of craftsmanship, 'Framework' is an investigation of materiality, the incidental aspect of making and the sensory nature of the textile. The evolution of the piece became an organic process reliant on the exploration of personal practice, the knitted structure, form and the selection of materials. Sensorial Loop includes practitioners from a diverse range of disciplines using textiles as a form of expression and exploration, whether it is through medium or process. This shift in contemporary creative practice across a range of practitioners, illustrates the relevance and renewed interest in textiles and textile techniques, not only in Australia, but globally. The inclusion of 'Framework' in Sensorial Loop as part of this contemporary survey demonstrates its importance and relevance to creative textile practice in Australia. 'Framework' was purchased by the Tamworth Regional Gallery Fibre Textile Collection in 2012.
