Rhynchonycteris naso (proboscis bat) for VGP reference genome, mRhyNas2

The proboscis bat (Rhynchonycteris naso) is a species of bat found in South America and Central America. It usually lives around wetlands and is frequently found in riparian forests, pastures swamps, and all near water (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Gamboa, Panama, was procured by Ine Alvarez van Tussenbroek and Sonja Vernes to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Bat1K project and Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing was conducted at Paratus Sciences and genome assembly was conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
