The bacterium is Kuttleria gilsonii, isolated from the liver of sick chickens. From the reported cases, Kuttleria gilsonii is not highly pathogenic and is more commonly found in aquatic animals, usually in immunocompromised organisms with some degree of pathogenicity. In humans and domestic animals, the main symptoms of the disease are diarrhoea and local inflammation. At present, there are few studies on this bacterium and with the use of antibiotics, bacterial resistance is increasing and this bacterium also has the opportunity to become a potential pathoge.
