Fish categories of watercourses and bodies of water

A Piscicol Category Ranking is a legal classification of rivers and bodies of water according to the dominant fish groups. Article L.436-5 of the Environmental Code defines the notion of classification of Category Piscicole. The notions of public/privileged or unauthorised fishing are not relevant to this division. This cutting also does not concern closed waters or fish farms. The founding regulatory text of a Piscicol category classification is the stop taken by the prefect of department. —1st category: waters mainly populated by trout, as well as those where it seems desirable to provide special protection for fish of this species. —2nd category: all other waters subject to the provisions of the Order.
