Profiling of drug resistant bacteria using DNA-binding dyes and a nanopore-based sequencer

We developed a new rapidly methods of bacterial profiling using propidium monoazide (PMA) for viable bacteria identification and drug sensitivity. Bacterial suspension treated by antibiotics and PMA, and detected bacterial genome by nanopore DNA sequencing. It showed tendency to decrease of quantity of drug-sensitive bacteria. By this method, it anticipated that establishment of laboratory procedure can quickly identify the bacteria and drug-sensitivity.
