The mouse olfactory mucosa (OM) is a complex tissue, composed by anatomically and molecularly distinct cell types. Of particular interest are the olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs), as they constitute the functional unit of theolfactory system. In preliminary FACS sorting experiments using OMP-GFP mice (which label OSNs) we observed the existence of 2 OSN populations, as defined by fluorescence intensity. To explore the molecular heterogeneity and define the molecular barcodes of these 2 populations, we aim to sequence pools of 10,000 cells originated from each of these populations. This experiment is the final one to complete a paper on single cell analyses of OSNs.
