Dataset: Ectotherms react to rapidly changing temperatures with individual plasticity of a behavioural trait

Exploration metrics of juvenile newts, Ichthyosaura alpestris and Lissotriton vulgaris, during acute temperature change. Juveniles were exposed to two rearing thermal regimes for five weeks prior to behavioral assays. Repeated trials varied in the direction of temperature change and its position on temperature axis. The data provided information on three traits, i.e. 1) covered distance (cm) = distance travelled during 1 °C change; 2) average speed (cm/s) = average locomotor speed during 1°C change; 3) body mass (g).
