Map layer biotope composite surfaces

The basis for the development of a biotope composite system is §§ 20 and 21 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatschG). The biotope network is intended to ensure the permanent protection of the populations of wild animals and plants, including their habitats, biotopes and communities, as well as the preservation, restoration and development of functional ecological interrelationships. The biotope network as part of the technical contribution of nature conservation and landscape care according to § 15a Landscape Act (LG NW) is a technical concept of nature conservation, which is intended to secure large-area core areas (areas with outstanding importance for the biotope network system) and by means of connecting areas (area of particular importance for the biotope composite system), which is intended to enable the spread or exchange of individuals of neighbouring populations. It thus also contributes to the better linking of Natura 2000 sites and thus serves as an essential element for the conservation and development of biodiversity within the framework of the National Biodiversity Strategy. The factual documents on the biotope network contain subject-specific advice and recommendations for the protection and development of suitable habitats, habitats and their abiotic location conditions, which are prerequisites for an intact biotope composite system.
