This dataset is published as supporting information to Martorell, C. and Martinez-Blancas, A. "Plant-soil feedbacks contribute to coexistence when considering multispecies assemblages", accepted for publication in Ecology.over a soil depth gradientThe data come from various localities (loc), i.e., 0.5 ha plots over an area of about 10 km2. At each locality there are up to 8 randomly placed 1 m2 plots, each with up to 20 randomly selected 1 dm2 subplots. In each subplot soil depth (distance between a continuous tuff bedrock and soil surface) was measured and is reported in cm.Data are shown for 17 species in 5 families: Asteraceae(A), Commelinaceae (C), Plantaginaceae (Pl), Poaceae (P), Rubiaceae (R):Aristida adscensionis (P)Bouteloua chondrosioides (P)Bouteloua hirsuta (P)Crusea simplex (R)Digitaria ternata (P)Heterosperma pinnatum (A)Hilaria cenchroides (P)Microchloa kunthii (P)Muhlenbergia phalaroides (P)Plantago nivea (Pl)Sanvitalia procumbens (A)Stevia ephemera (A)Tagetes micrantha (A)Thymophylla aurantiaca (A)Tridax coronopifolia (A)Tripogandra purpurascens (C)Tripogonella spicata (P)The abundances (number of individuals) in each subplot between 2012 and 2018 are reported in different columns. The exceptions are Bouteloua chondrosioides and Hilaria cenchroides for which we record presence with a number 1 instead of abundance. Each columns is coded with the year and the first three letters of the genus and the species.
