Impact of bead-beating time on microbiome recovery in mouse and human stool-16S sequencing data

DNA extraction method play an important role in acquisition of accurate and reproducible 16S sequencing data in gut microbiome studies. In this study, we attempted to determine an optimum bead-beating time in DNA extraction protocol that can accurately recover abundance and diversity of microbial communities in mouse and human stool. Study data suggest that 4-5 minute of bead beating is optimal for consistent recovery of mouse and human gut microbiome.
