WMPO Smoothed Urban Boundary

This dataset provides polygons representing the smoothed urban boundaries within the WMPO's planning area following the 2020 Census. The boundaries were originally generated by the US Census Bureau and have been adjusted (smoothed) by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, in cooperation with North Carolina’s Metropolitan Planning Organizations. Roads within the smooth boundary are considered urban and roads outside the smooth boundary are considered rural.
