Insects as food and feed have recently emerged as an important issue in the world due to the rising cost of animal protein, food and feed insecurity, environmental pressures, population growth and increasing demand for protein among the middle classes. This project aims at genome and transcriptome analysis of the crickets that are commonly consumed as food in Asian countries, and will serve their efficient breeding and mass production.
