Protein kinase C delta (PKC-δ) is a member of the PKC protein family that plays a critical role in the regulation of various cellular processes including cell proliferation, cell death, and tumor promotion. In recent years it was reported that PKC-δ also functions as an important regulator in bone metabolism. However, the precise involvement of PKC-δ in the regulation of osteoclast biology and bone homeostasis remains elusive. We generated an osteoclast specific PKC-δ conditional knockout (cKO) mouse strain to investigate the function of PKC-δ in osteoclast biology.
