New York Metropolitan Plant Occurrence Database

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden maintains a database of occurrence plant
records for the New York Metropolitan Area. This database includes specimen and
observational data. Specimen data have been recorded from the following
herbaria: Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Brooklyn Botanic Garden,
Cornell University, Harvard University, New York Botanical Garden, New York
State Museum, Planting Fields Arboretum, Rutgers University, Smithsonian
Institution, Staten Island Institute of Arts and Sciences, and Yale University.
Observational data are taken from the literature and from unpublished
observations of Brooklyn Botanic Garden staff.

The purpose of the dataset is to analyze floristic trends for the area and
assist in the preparation of a flora for the area.
