A population of Vitis cinerea var. berlandieri genotypes have been obtained after seed sampling in Texas, USA in the region of Edward's plateau. A total of 78 female plants have been identified and seeds were sampled after open-fertilization. This led to the creation of a population 5,000 genotypes planted in field in Geisenheim, Germany. 286 genoytpes were selected from this population to analyse the structure of the wild population of V. berlandieri, carry out genome-environment analysis and genome wide association study for various phenotypic traits.
