The levelling network is based on IGM leveling lines and runs throughout the valley, with branches at the Mont Blanc Tunnel, the Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo and the Colle del Gran San Bernardo. These lines include about 500 geodetic points, permanently marked, arranged about 1 km from each other, and therefore easily connected to local levels.
