资源简介:

This compressed (.zip) archive contains four complementary content analyses of an author-created transcript of the Paskapoo Slopes public hearing held July 20–22, 2015 at Calgary City Hall in Calgary. The analyses examine how environmental value, site meaning, and advocacy claims were articulated and constrained within a municipal decision-making process. Together, they combine inductive and deductive approaches to identify patterns in language use, argumentation, and epistemic framing across participants in the hearing. The archive includes: Transcript_Analysis_1_Discursive_Markers_of_Anthropogenic_History (pp. 5–301)Identifies references to anthropogenic history within the transcript, examining how human modification of the landscape was invoked, interpreted, and mobilized within arguments about environmental significance. Transcript_Analysis_2_Inductive_Discourse_Analysis_of_Site_Naming (pp. 5–301)Identifies and compares the terms used by speakers to describe the site (e.g., “greenfield,” “natural area”), revealing patterns in how site meaning was constructed and limited within the hearing through inductive lexical coding of common nouns. Transcript_Analysis_3_Biophilic_Valuation (pp. 5–206)Examines expressions of relational and biophilic attachment to the landscape, identifying how speakers articulated care, use, and everyday ecological relationships in the absence of formalized environmental terminology. Transcript_Analysis_4_Deductive_Content_Analysis_of_Environmental_Value_Framing (pp. 85–206)Applies an adaptation of Lindberg’s (2017) argumentation method to classify environmental valuation categories following Martínez-Alier (2002), highlighting recurring themes and discursive misalignment between preservationist claims and Environmental Impact Assessment criteria.
