SeqAfrica Projects

Projects under the SeqAfrica Projects umbrella contain sequence data generated by the SeqAfrica Consortium. SeqAfrica is funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care’s Fleming Fund (https://www.flemingfund.org) using UK Aid. The consortium supports genomic surveillance efforts of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on the African continent through whole genome sequencing of bacterial pathogens and bioinformatic analyses for the consortium’s national surveillance projects, and for individual clients across Africa, of e.g. outbreak investigations in a One Health framework. The consortium has also contributed to the global pandemic surveillance efforts of SARS-CoV-2. The projects aims to generate data on the continent for the continent, democratising sequencing and filling in gaps of knowledge, generating data for action in the fight against AMR.
