Legume phylogenomics

The study aims to infer a phylogeny for the legume family (Leguminosae or Fabaceae) using genomic-scale data, to understand the history of ancient polyploidy in the family and to infer the timeline of early legume evolution. The family is the third largest of the Angiosperms and the second most cultivated plant family in the world. Furthermore, understanding the role of polyploidization in the early evolution of the family as well as the timing of events will add to a growing body of research on plant evolution in relation to polyploidy.
