Municipal solid waste (MSW) composition is the proportion of MSW by material category, expressed as a percentage of total MSW generated or collected in a country or territory over a specific time period. Material categories include organics (food, wood, yard/green); recyclables (paper & cardboard, metal, glass, and plastic); rubber & leather; textile; electrical & electronic equipment; household hazardous; diapers & hygiene; and other wastes.
