Indonesian Susenas 2003, Individual Characteristics

Indonesia Social and Economic Survey (Susenas 2003) is a nationwide survey conducted to collect information on social and economics indices. It serves as a main source of monitoring the social and economic progress in the society. Susenas was conducted on an annual basis since 1963. In 1992, in addition to a basic social and economic questionnaire (core), another questionnaire was introduced which gathers more detailed information on special interest topics (module). The core covers basic information of household and individual characteristics on health, death, education/literacy, employment, fertility and family planning, housing, and household expenditure. This questionnaire is asked annually with only slight modification in subsequent years. Susenas 2003 core covers 222,791 households and is designed to be representative up to district/municipality levels. The module is intended to gather more detailed information on specific topics, especially on data that changed less frequently than yearly. There are three modules of Susenas and each module is added in a three-year cycle. In 2003, the module’s topic was socio culture and education. The data set covers 65,762 households. Both core questionnaire (Susenas Core) and module questionnaires (Susenas Module) contains data on household and individual characteristics. In this data archive the data were split into two files: Ssn03kr_mr_Eng.sav contains information on household characteristics data gathered from both core and module questionnaires and Ssn03ki_mi_Eng.sav contains individual characteristics data gathered both from core and module questionnaires. This file (ssn03ki_mi_Eng.sav) contains information on individual characteristics, especially on Individual Characteristics on Health of Children Under Five, Education, Employment, and Fertility and Family Planning and individual characterictics on social culture and edcuation. The data is taken from core questionnaire (block I, IV, V, form VSEN2003.K) and module questionnaire (block IV, VI and VI, form VSEN2003.MP). Total number of cases in this file is 895,427 individuals with 321 variables.
