Map of Former Industrial Sites and Service Activities (CASIAS)

The map of former industrial sites and service activities (CASIAS) identifies former activities that may cause soil pollution. These can be old industrial activities (heavy industries, manufacturing, etc.) or old potentially polluting service activities (e.g. laundries, gas stations and garages, etc.). In particular, it bears witness to the industrial history of a territory since the end of the 19th century. The purpose of the CASIAS constitution is to preserve the memory of former industrial sites and service activities to provide useful information for urban planning and the protection of public health and the environment. It should be stressed that CASIAS is a mapping of the history of successive industrial or service activities over time in a territory, and does not prejudge the actual soil pollution of the identified establishments.
