Staircase Rating Data

We selected nine buildings in South Campus of UCLA in which to investigate staircase lighting: La Kretz, Botany, Boelter, Math Sciences, Geology, Life Sciences, Young, Franz and Knudsen Hall.In each staircase of the buildings, we collected data on the number of light bulbs, type of light bulbs, wattage of light bulbs, presence of motion sensors, and the luminous flux of natural lighting present. The total daily energy consumption (EC) of a staircase is calculated using the following formula:EC=(NxWxOH)/1000N is the number of lights, W is the wattage of each light, and OH is the total hours of operations (Ganandran et al., 2014). EC was calculated in kilowatt-hours, which is a measure of power consumption of one watt for one hour.
