Microscopy and SEM Images of Residues from the RR2010 Grinding Stone, Lucone D

Microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of residues collected from the surface of the RR2010 grinding stone, an Early Bronze Age artefact from the Lucone D pile-dwelling settlement (Polpenazze del Garda, Italy), dated by dendrochronology to 2034–1967 cal BC (±10 years). The grinding stone’s surface was divided into four areas (A–D), from which biogenic residues were collected using different sampling strategies, combining water-based extraction and hydrogel sampling. The recovered residues were examined by light microscopy using a Leica DMIL LED microscope under bright-field and cross-polarized lights, and by SEM using a ZEISS GeminiSEM 500.
