Our study focused on the changes in the gut microflora composition over time in rabbits fed different diets in order to better understand the affect of diet on the function and physiology of the gut microbiota. In this work, we used a pyrosequencing-based analysis of 16S rDNA genes to compare the cecal microbiota of rabbits fed diets containing different dietary fiber and starch levels to determine the how the overall microbiome structure varies according to age (from 52 to 82 days of age) and diet.
