资源简介:
This dataset was produced by the US Geological Survey (USGS) as a supporting dataset for calculating stream-gage basin characteristics within the Virginia and West Virginia StreamStats applications. This data release contains the supporting raster representations of various soil and land use attributes generated as explanatory variables for the 2025 flood-frequency study for Virginia and West Virginia. The integer raster dataset represents dominant hydrologic soil group conditions (Soil A) and land cover classes within the StreamStats study areas of both states. The source of the soils data was the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Soil Survey Geographic Database (SSURGO). The source of the land cover data was the USGS 2019 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) data. The soil dataset will be used in peak flow regression equations for the DELMARVA region. Wetlands data will serve an informational role to contextualize landscape hydrology, while the development land use class will help determine whether rural regression equations are applicable. The StreamStats application provides access to spatial analytical tools that are useful for water-resources planning and management, as well as for engineering and design purposes.
