Stage construction at Union Station, Los Angeles, 1939

"Strat - MU-7107, Union Station Celebration -- One of largest stages ever built in the west for a theatrical presentation is under construction at the Union Station for the show, 'Romance of the Rails,' a feature of the Union Station Celebration, May 3, 4 and 5. -- Using part of the rail terminal as a setting, the 'back stage,' meaning the part behind the setting, runs from Aliso Street to north of Macy Street. It has a double railroad track crossing the stage on which trains will run, as 'actors' in the spectacle. -- Seats in this huge stadium will accommodate 6,000 persons.
