Egg Specimens Metadata and Measurements

This study presents a 3D digital photogrammetry approach to reconstruct and measure eggs from 20 different bird species varying widely in ecology and life history. Digital models were created to quantify egg length, width, surface area, and volume with model measurements differing from physical measurements by an average of only 1.3%. This workflow demonstrates the accuracy of 3D modeling for non-invasive morphometric analyses of avian eggs.
